As an adult, who witnessed the power of the written word when little ones listen to you read, I became determined to help them develop a love of reading. I recalled that reading was something I saw my grandmother do much of the time when she wasn't working one of her many jobs.

It wasn't until I was about to get married that I discovered something inspiring about my grandmother. You see, I often saw her reading a book with a pad, pencil, and a dictionary. When I finally asked why she did this I was shocked by her reply.

She said, "If I come across a word I don't know, then I write it down and look it up in the dictionary. Then write down the definition so I can remember it."

Now, let me tell you, my grandmother had a lot of books. She didn't care of I read them, as long as I didn't take them home and forgot to bring them back. So, I was more than shocked when she told me that there were a lot of words that she didn't know.

JOIN THE PROJECT

Come help us educate all children. You would be surprised how much it benefits a toddler or small child to have a story read to them. They love the attention, their mind is receptive to the stimuli and their imaginations get a boost. It is a beautiful thing.

After all, with the brain developing so much in the first few years of life, we need to do all we can to help it grow. We want to help prevent illiteracy by starting with the children. This will not only help the child, but in the long run, it will help society as well.

Our time and resources are a great way to invest in humanity. Our children are a precious resource and a gift. We want to give them everything we can to live a happy life. Knowing how to read is a big part of that.

We welcome your suggestions and ideas. Please use the contact page to let us know your thoughts.
